welcome!
today i want you all to look at a very familar passage.

Hebrews 12:1-12 (im gonna split this up into 3 weeks)

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=hebrews%2012:1-12;&version=31;

read the whole section first then walk throught it will me (im going to work backwards)

after you have read - consider the following about this weeks section, starting with verses 7-12 (you may want to re-read these verses as they are explained)

notice that we are sons (and daughters) of God! with this sonship we are at times disiplined. if it were not for that dicipline we would not be his children, the bible says we would be illegitimate (literally -no one knows who are father is!)  now we all know we have human fathers and as the bible says - they diciplined us according to what they thought was best. those are our daddies (and mine for one did a wonderful job of teaching me right from wrong) but daddies can only do so much.
only God, not our daddy, but our father can teach us the truth. my dad brought me up in the church, we went to sunday school, wed. nights, sunday nights and anyother time the church doors were open! my dad diciplined me for things that i had done wrong, but as much as i was whipped and rebuked, spanked and rebuked some more, it was untimatley up to me to make a decision for right or wrong. and that decision was not going to be beaten into me but convicted by my heavenly Father!
now that i am older, i know that when i was resisting my dad's rules i wasnt doing it becasue i didnt know better but i was in direct opposition of what god wanted me to be doing, i just had to submit to him as my Father.
verse 11 says that no punishment seems plesent.... NO KIDDING! have you ever been punished and thougth "man this is the best thing that could have ever happened to me!"    if you have, you are one crazy kid!
God does not punish people for sins, but sometimes allows them to be confronted with hardships (remember the bible also tells us that we will not be faced with a hardship we cannot bare)... to strengthen and form them into a willing servant and true son or daughter of Him. and it all starts by submitting to him and daily taking up your cross....even when the splinters are diggin into your back and it would be easy to complain and give up...
to MISS-quote the words of a linkinpark song...

"i tried so hard, and got so far,
and in the end, it ALL MATTERS!!!"

that is exactly what we are talking about here! face the hardships, you are sons and daughters of God... if you were not he wouldnt care enough about you to dicipline you. so i, like paul say to you, "STRENGTHEN YOUR FEEBLE ARMS AND WEEK KNEES!"

in other words, quit belly aching about being molded into the shape of Christ, after all crusifixion is a slow and painfull process.

pray today for:

God to strenghten you by whatever means.

Acceptance of the dicipline you might be recieving.

An enjoyment of life as a son or a daughter of GOD!

Any other concern on you heart....

i encourage you all in love, in christ

hey guys!
glad you all could make it! i hope your week is going well. here's what's up.

as you can see i created this site some time ago in hopes to start it up over the summer. but as things got busy and i went crazy i forgot about this all together! so here's my attempt to retry

really how it works is this:
1) you must sign off of any othere thing you are doing (including instant messenger jenny!)
2) you must have your Bible
3) you dont have to be alone- you might want to be with another friend when you do it... maybe become accountability partners!
4) dont make fun of my spelling ! ! !

each week will have some kind of devotional thought for you to ponder (probably thoughts that come from my daily quite times) i would encourage you to not only do this devo once a week but to find you something (devotional bible, purpose driven life, psalms, proverbs..etc) and have a daily devotional live of your own.
if you get brave enough to get your own xanga site you are welcome to leave prayer request and thoughts/question of your own on this site. (you have to have your own account to leave comments) if you have any questions just let me know.... i probably wont answer them but i will sound really smart trying!

in Christ
allen

p.s. i will try to update this on tuesdays! no promises, but yell at me if i don't!
and... i will also try to put up announcments and upcoming events on here too.. peace out!
